Assignment 1
- No this is not an accurate representation of how I spend my time. I don’t cry at work or in front of people or really… at all. I don’t spend this much time thinking about someone. I don’t occupy my time doing small stuff to keep my mind off of the things that hurt me. I never get called up to the office for anything, good or bad. I spent most of my morning dealing with a situation. This was not a normal 24 hours.
- I value my anatomy grade. I worked on that more than anything else. I value the feelings of those close to me. I spent most of homeroom checking on my teacher and was almost late to first period because I talked to Kelsey about things we could do to honor Arielle. I missed notes in first period because I had to diffuse a sensitive situation that affected the lacrosse team. I value eating healthily because I made rice for my lunch. I value my job. This is seen in that I do the work that I am supposed to do.
- I love to sleep but I value my grades over sleep and personal health. I stayed up late working on homework and waited until midnight to take a shower and go to sleep. I don’t spend a lot of time on my phone or watching t.v., so that shows that I don’t value technology as much as others.
- The excerpt from “Walden” shows many Romantic ideas and from that, we can see some of Thoreau’s feelings about how people should be and live. I think that he would not approve of how I spend my time because I do not spend time in nature, I rely on other (they rely on me), and I am always near others. I go to work and work with other people, in a restaurant it takes a group to make sure that things run smoothly.

Cause the world stops when I put my arms around you, around you. (oh woah)
And nothing even matters (eh)
And nothing even matters. (eh)
It's like one for the haters,
Two for all of those who try to shut us down.
They don't really know.
There ain't nothing they can do that can tear us apart.
No. I don't care about the money, don't care about the clothes.
When we're together, baby, anything goes.
We don't even need to prove what we feel in our hearts. No.
This wall we built together, there ain't no way of knocking it over.
We'll be here forever, getting closer, and closer baby.
Cause the world stops when I put my arms around you, around you. (oh woah)
And nothing even matters. (eh)
And nothing even matters. (eh)
They can all talk, say what they want about us, about us. (oh woah)
And nothing even matters. (woah)
And nothing even matters. (eh)
It's like the sound goes off and the people all freeze.
They disappear and it's just you and me.
Anything you want to do, anything that you please. (oh woah no)
Forget about our problems, forget about our past.
I've seen the future and I know we're gonna last.
Every second I'm with you just goes so fast. (woah oh woah)
This wall we built together, there ain't no way of knocking it over.
We'll be here forever, that I told you, that I told you baby.
Cause the world stops when I put my arms around you, around you. (oh woah)

We don't even need to fight.
Everything will be alright. (oh yea)
Nothing even matters, but you and I.
Cause the world stops when I put my arms around you, around you. (oh woah)
And nothing even matters, nothing even matters.
And nothing even matters. (wooaah)
They can all talk, say what they want about us, (Say what they want woooah) about us. (oh woah oh)

Explanation: I chose this song and it may seem juvenile but It doesn't really matter. I always have so much energy when this song comes on and I dance around, even though I know that I can't. This song is just very upbeat and catchy.

Assignment 3

She'd trade Colorado if he'd take her with him
Closes the door before the winter lets the cold in,
And wonders if her love is strong enough to make him stay,
She's answered by the tail lights
Shining through the window pane
He said I wanna see you again
But I'm stuck in colder weather
Maybe tomorrow will be better
Can I call you then
She said you're ramblin' man
You ain't ever gonna change
You gotta gypsy soul to blame
And you were born for leavin'
At a truck stop diner just outside of Lincoln,
The night is black as the coffee he was drinkin',
And in the waitress' eyes he sees the same 'ol light shinin',
He thinks of Colorado
And the girl he left behind
He said I wanna see you again
But I'm stuck in colder weather
Maybe tomorrow will be better
Can I call you then
She said you're ramblin' man
You ain't ever gonna change
You gotta gypsy soul to blame
And you were born for leavin'
Born for leavin'
Well it's a winding road
When your in the lost and found
You're a lover I'm a runner
We go 'round 'n 'round
And I love you but I leave you
I don't want you but I need you
You know it's you who calls me back here
Oh I wanna see you again
But I'm stuck in colder weather
Maybe tomorrow will be better
Can I call you then
'Cause I'm a ramblin' man
I ain't ever gonna change
I gotta gypsy soul
And I was born for leavin' (born for leavin')
When I close my eyes I see you
No matter where I am
I can smell your perfume through these whispering pines
I'm with your ghost again
It's a shame about the weather
I know soon we'll be together
And I can't wait 'til then
I can't wait 'til then
Explanation: I chose this song because the bare piano really adds to the sadness of the lyrics. I also like how the song is slow and has very pretty harmonies. When you put all of these things together, it really just makes for the ideal sad song.

Uh huh, life's like this
Uh huh, uh huh, that's the way it is
'Cause life's like this
Uh huh, uh huh that's the way it is
Chill out, what you yellin' for?
Lay back, it's all been done before
And if you could only let it be
You will see
I like you the way you are
When we're drivin' in your car
And you're talking to me one on one
But you've become...
Somebody else 'round everyone else
You're watching your back like you can't relax
You're tryin' to be cool
You look like a fool to me
Tell me
Why do you have to go and make things so complicated?
I see the way you're acting like you're somebody else
Gets me frustrated
Life's like this
You, you fall and you crawl and you break
And you take what you get and you turn it into honesty
You promised me I'm never gonna find you fake it
No, no, no
You come over unannounced
Dressed up like you're somethin' else
Where you are ain't where it's at
You see you're making me laugh out
When you strike your pose
Take off all your preppy clothes
You know you're not fooling anyone
When you've become...
Somebody else 'round everyone else
You're watchin' your back like you can't relax
You're tryin' to be cool
You look like a fool to me
Tell me

And you take what you get and you turn it into honesty
You promised me I'm never gonna find you fake it

Explanation: Thoreau and Emerson would like this song because they are both fans of individuality and this song is about a girl telling a boy that he has changed to conform with others and she does not like it. Also she talks about how the boy relies on others for approval and Thoreau/Emerson did not approve of that either.
